I get this all the time ‘what’s the latest technology for anti-wrinkle? I don’t like my droopy eyelids but I don’t like surgery, what can I do?’
I often say that surgery probably would be the best to address droopy eyelids and the same old stuff we always do for anti-ageing: antiwrinkle injections and dermal fillers etc.
However, I am very excited to say that Tixel 2® is a game changer in this industry!
About Tixel 2®
Tixel 2® employs pure heat up to 400 degrees Celsius at skin surface via a special made titanium tip (no needles!). Basically, it has no limitations in terms of treatment areas such as face (even eyelids), neck and body.
Game Changer
One particular technology about Tixel 2® is that it does not involve any radiation or radiofrequency. Thus, makes it very safe around the peri-orbital area. This is the only device so far in the market that can be applied directly onto the eyelids without protective shield.
Best of all, it is safe to treat ALL skin types!
Pain level and Procedure
Tixel 2® has 3 settings: gentle, medium and high settings.
With gentle settings, no topical anaesthetics is required and downtime for this setting is typically very minimal as well (0-1 days). This setting is usually used in peri-orbital area in treating droopy eyelids.
With medium settings, a numbing cream may be used in sensitive areas like around mouth to treat peri-oral lines (smokers’ lines) and crow feet. 1-2 days for recovery is expected. What’s important, Skin Prep! Retinol and Vitamin C serum should be used at least 2 weeks prior to minimise the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Jan Marini ® Retinol Plus and C-ESTA Serum is highly recommended for this purpose being medical grade serums.
With high settings, it delivers comparable results to Fractional CO2 Laser but with less pain and downtime! Prepping the skin is, I should say, a ‘must’ for this treatment. Retinol and Vitamin C are to be used 2-4 weeks prior to reduce post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and other skin complications. Usually, we expect 5 days downtime for this setting as it is very effective in treating severe wrinkles and acne scarring. And of course, a topical anaesthetic will be used.
Ok, so what Tixel 2® can treat:
Dry eye
Sagging upper eyelid
Laxity of the lower eyelid
Sun-damage (photo-ageing)
Active acne
Acne scars
Fine lines
Dilated pores
General skin rejuvenation/tightening
Pigmentation/melasma
Rosacea
Infusion/Delivery of active skincare/topical medications
How many treatments are needed?
A course of 3 treatments is usually recommended to achieve the best results. However, results are seen just after one single treatment. Our skin experts will perform a thorough consultation to customise your treatment plan.
